River Dawgs Fall to Brookings Cubs

The Baltic River Dawgs scored four early runs, but Brookings took control of the game in the middle innings on their way to a 13-8 win on Thursday, July 6th.

The River Dawgs scored four times in the bottom of the first inning for a 4-0 lead, but Brookings put eight runs on the board in the top of the second to grab an 8-4 lead.  The Cubs scored a single run in both the fourth and fifth innings to extend the lead to 10-5.  Baltic got one run back in the bottom of the fifth, but Brookings scored a run in the sixth and seventh innings.  The River Dawgs scored three times in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 12-8, but the Cubs added one more run in the top of the ninth.

Ty Schafer finished with two hits, one a triple, and two RBIs.  Logan Bakker and Ray Williams III each finished with two hits, including a double, and an RBI.  Dalton Garbers, Colbe Scott, and Mitchell Peters all had a hit and an RBI.  Andrew Van Dam pitched five innings and allowed 10 runs, four earned, on nine hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  Andrew Evenson pitched four innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on two hits and seven walks with four strikeouts.
