Audree Nelsen, 84, of Dell Rapids passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in the First Baptist Church, Dell Rapids at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Kahler Funeral Home. AuDree was born April 12, 1928 in Dell Rapids, SD, the daughter of Lester and Myrtle Reiff. The family lived and farmed in the Dell Rapids and Chester areas. AuDree graduated from Dell Rapids High School and Nettleton Business College. She worked at Northwest Security Bank until her marriage to Robert M. Nelsen. Robert and AuDree were married May 22, 1948 in AuDree’s rural Chester family home. They farmed in the Colman area their entire life. Robert died in 2007.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Dell Rapids serving as treasurer and many other committees, bible studies, ABW, Homebuilders, ABW sewing and Quilting and Morning Glories. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, playing cards, puzzles and dominoes. She especially enjoyed playing board games and making cookies with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Marvin (Beth) of Sioux Falls, Ronald (Shari) of Dell Rapids and Scott (Cheryl) of Colman; her 14 grandchildren, Christina (David) Miler, Kellie (Neil) Groon, Katey (Daniel) Geraets, Cayla (Brian) Rush, Michael (Autumn) Nelsen, Amy (Dan) Huwe, Christopher, Brendon, Dereck (Alainna) Nelsen, Brooke Kaiser, Andrew (Jill) Ahlers, Ashley (John) Reiser, Dylan Nelsen and Victoria Nelsen; her 15 great grandchildren, Nicholle, Hayden, Kaden, Hailee, Connor, Shikago, Austin, Mallory, Danielle, Christopher, Lucas, Bella, Landyn, Breckyn and Laikyn; her brother, Roger (Marilyn) Reiff of Wentworth; her brothers-in-law, Russell (Shirley) Nelsen and Roger (Joyce) Nelsen; her sister-in-law, Nellie Dissing; her special friends, Dianne Crisp and Alice Scott and many other friends, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her son, Steven in 2009, her parents and three grandchildren.
