Alcester-Hudson Softball Wins Two in Marion

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs softball team won two of three games in Marion on Saturday, April 20th.  The Cubs played Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy, Arlington, and Winner.

The Phoenix scored two runs in the top of the first inning and stayed in front the rest of the game.  They added another run in the top of third for a 3-0 lead.  The Cubs got one run in the bottom of the third and another in bottom of the fourth to pull within one, 3-2.  The Phoenix, however, got two runs in the top of the fifth to secure the win.

Delta Pies finished with two singles.  Alexis Gray and Jenna Manning both had one single each.  Emma Solberg and Jaeley Christensen both had an RBI.  Emma Moller pitched five innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on eight hits and four walks with six strikeouts.

Alcester-Hudson 14, Arlington 2

The Cubs offense bounced back in the second game in a nice win over the Arlington Cardinals.  Alcester-Hudson scored four runs in the top of the first and cruised from there.  They added two more runs in in the second, four in the third, and had another four-run inning in the top of the fifth.  The Cardinals scored a single run in both the second and third innings.

E. Moller had a two hits, one a double, and three RBIs.  Chirstensen had two hits and two RBIs.  Solberg also had two hits and two RBIs.  Manning had a double and four RBIs.  Pies finished with a double and an RBI.  Laney Decker and Gray both and one RBI.  E. Moller pitched five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on no hits and six walks with 10 strikeouts.

Alcester-Hudson 4, Winner 1

Four runs in the first two innings was enough for the Cubs to defeat the Winner Warriors.  Alcester-Hudson got a run in the first inning on an RBI double by E. Moller.  Three runs scored in the bottom of the second inning on a triple by Solberg.  Winner’s lone run came in the top of the fourth inning.

E. Moller had two hits, including a double, and an RBI.   Solberg finished with a triple and three RBIs.  Paxtyn Moller, Christensen, Sarah Ebert, and Manning all had one hit each.  E. Moller pitched five great innings and allowed one run, which was unearned, on a hit and three walks with 10 strikeouts.
