Ruth Nebben

Ruth E. Nebben, 88, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Ruth was born August 30, 1924 at Chester, SD to Ed and Mary (Birnbaum) Michel. She attended Moody County country schools and graduated from Trent High School in 1942. Ruth married Palmer Nebben on September 23, 1944 at Huntimer Catholic Church near Colton, SD. She worked for Civil Service while Palmer was in the service in New Mexico. They returned to Colman and Ruth was a homemaker and then a bookkeeper for many years at the Colman Elevator. They moved into Colman in 2001. Ruth was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

Ruth is survived by her husband Palmer, Colman, a daughter Marlene (Daryl) Wussow, Sioux Falls, a son Larry (Lois) Nebben, Wentworth, SD, five grandchildren, Angie (Gary) Schlenker, Christy Nebben, Amy (Adam) Morrison, Stacey (Erik) Nelson, Zach (Katie) Nebben, a great-granddaughter Samantha Schlenker, two sisters, Darlene Goode, Milwaukee, OR, Shirley (Paul) Scholten, Sioux Falls and two sisters-in-law, Carol Michel, Harbor City, CA and Connie Michel, Dell Rapids, SD. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Wayne and Glenn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Colman with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Dell Rapids. Visitation is 5-7 pm Monday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman.  http://www.skrochfc.com
