Mary Ann Klein

Mary Ann KleinMary Ann Klein, 93, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 in St. Mary Catholic Church with a wake service at 6:00 p.m. followed by a family rosary.  On-line condolences may be left at the Kahler Funeral Home website.

Mary Ann Klein, daughter of John Klein and Frances (Hansen) Klein, was born on August 5, 1923. Mary Ann graduated from St. Mary High School in 1942. Mary Ann was first employed at the First National Bank in Dell Rapids and then worked for 12 years at the gas Utility Company before moving to Aberdeen SD in 1966. In Aberdeen, Mary Ann worked as a bookkeeper and secretary until her retirement. In her retirement years, Mary Ann was involved with the Senior Companion Program which she enjoyed very much. In addition she was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish and did other volunteer work.

In 2008, Mary Ann moved to Dell Rapids to be closer to her family. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Over the years Mary Ann enjoyed crocheting, cooking, flowers and her bird watching. Mary Ann had a generous heart and a deep faith. She loved to laugh and enjoyed sharing a joke or two.

Mary Ann spent many years caring for her nieces and nephews as they were born. She has 45 nieces and nephews and 6 godchildren. The nieces and nephews have continued to be a special part of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Art, Pete, Bob and Clarence; three sisters Matilda Gebhart, Frances Klein and Priscilla Klein.
