Beverly J. Riedel, 86, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Sherman passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. – 6: 30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Beverly Riedel was born on May 16, 1929 at Hartford, South Dakota to William and Amanda (Jastram) Horeis. She grew up was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Humboldt. She attended high school and was the organist for the church. In 1947 she graduated from Humboldt High School. Following her graduation she worked at Hutton Tufty until 1950.
On February 19, 1950 Beverly married Herman Riedel at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. The couple lived on a farm west of Sherman. After the death of Herman she continued to live on the farm.
Beverly was an active member of her church, First Lutheran of Sherman as a WELCA member and church organist. Her family was important to her.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Barbara of Sioux Falls; her sons, Dennis (Carolyn) of Muscatine, IA; Brian (Marianne) of Sioux Falls and Roger of Santa Clara, CA; her seven grandchildren, Amanda, Robert, Sarah, Matthew, Steven, Leah, Dustin; her sister, Betty Hammer of Garretson and her three nieces and four nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Ronald and her brother, William.
