The De Smet Bulldogs (15-3) took a tough road win against the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds 52-49 on Thursday, February 9th.
The Warbirds gave the Bulldogs they could handle. Wolsey-Wessington got out to a 16-7 lead in the first quarter and led 19-12 at the first break. The Warbirds led through the whole second quarter, but the Bulldogs cut the lead to 31-27 by halftime. De Smet got the game tied 33-33 in the third quarter and then continued with the momentum to a 45-38 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs were able to hold off the Warbirds in the fourth quarter.
De Smet shot 40% (22-55) for the game, 15% (4-27) from three-point area, and 67% (4-6) from the free-throw line. The Warbirds shot 47% (21-45) overall, 13% (2-16) on three-point attempts, and 56% (5-9) from the free-throw line.
Kasen Janssen had 13 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Kadyn Fast finished with 12 points and four assists. George Jensen tallied 10 points and three assists. Damon Wilkinson added nine points and four rebounds.
