The De Smet Bulldog boys have qualified for yet another SoDak 16 game. De Smet defeated the Deubrook Dolphins 64-33 in the second round of the Region 2B Tournament in Huron on Friday, March 1st.
A big first quarter set the tone for the Bulldogs as they led start to finish in the game. De Smet finished the first quarter with a 23-10 lead. The offenses struggled a little in the second quarter. The two teams combined for a total of 10 points, and De Smet led 29-14 at halftime. The Bulldogs got their offensive groove back in the second half and outscored the Dolphins 35-19 in the final two quarters.
De Smet finished the game shooting 50% (26-52) overall, 30% (7-23) from three-point area, and 83% (5-6) from the free-throw line. Deubrook shot 36% (15-42) overall, 12% (2-17) on three-point attempts, and 14% (1-7) from the free-throw line.
Tom Aughenbaugh finished with 15 points and two rebounds. Kadyn Fast added 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Britt Carlson had nine points, three rebounds, and three steals. Trace Van Regenmorter ended with eight points and eight rebounds. Grant Wilkinson also had eight points with three rebounds.
