A quick start by the De Smet Bulldogs helped them to a 57-45 win over the St Thomas More Cavaliers at the Hanson Classic in Mitchell on Saturday, January 20th.
The Bulldogs got out to a 12-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. They continued their fast start in the second quarter and outscored the Cavaliers 20-11. The Bulldogs shot 52% overall in the first half and led 32-15 at halftime. De Smet extended their lead to 48-29 by the end of the third quarter. After the Bulldogs scored the first basket of the fourth quarter, they had their largest lead of the game, 50-29 with 7:32 to go in the game.
De Smet shot 51% (24-47) overall from the field, 33% (4-12) from three-point area, and 46% (5-11) from the free-throw line. St Thomas More shot 29% (16-56) from the field overall, 33% (9-27) on three-point attempts, and a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line.
Kadyn Fast has 14 points, five steals, three assists, and two rebounds. Britt Carlson had 1 points and seven rebounds. George Jensen added 10 points and four rebounds. Tom Aughenbaugh had nine points, five assists, and four rebounds. Trace Van Regenmorter ended with five points and six rebounds.
