Kingsbury County Wrestling Teams Compete in Two Different Tournaments

The Kingsbury County Knights boys and girls wrestling teams competed in two different tournaments on Saturday, December 16th.  The boys team competed in the Cossack Avalanche at Sioux Valley High School and claimed the team title with 225.0 points.  The girls team competed in the Battle for the Paddle in Canton and finished 15th with 18.0 points.

The boys team had seven wrestlers win their weight class.  Caden Singrey won the 120-pound class with three wins.  Cody Zell took the top spot in the 126-pound class with four wins.  Conner Giedd won the 144-pound division with three wins.  Sheldon Balderston placed first in the 157-pound class with three wins.  Kaleb Johnson won the 163-pound class with three wins.  Marshall Holz won the 190-pound division getting three wins.  Connor Johnson also took the top spot in the 215-pound class with three wins.

Sutton Murphy was the runner-up in the 138-pound weight class  with two wins.  Breyten Johnson also finished second in the 190-pound class with two wins.  Lane Albrecht (132) placed third with two wins.  Deion Harris (175) finished third with three wins.  Sam Crowe (215) also had a third place finish with three wins.  Chase Henriksen (106) finished fourth with three wins.  Juan Gutierrez (157 took fourth and had two wins.  Donovan Sandven (144) had three wins on the day.  Blake Jennings (150) and Kahne Hanson (150) both finished with one win.  Daltin Coughlin (106) and Karsten Lerwick (113) both competed in the tournament as well.

For the girls team in Canton, Jaidynn Gieed placed third and had three wins in the tournament.  Jaylynn Johnson finished 0-2 at the tournament.
