Bulldog Boys Pull Away from Redhawks in Third Quarter

The De Smet Bulldogs boys basketball team turned a nine-point halftime lead into a 27-point lead in the third quarter on Thursday, December 14th against the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks.  The Bulldogs defeated the Redhawks 62-42.

De Smet had a five-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 13-8.  The Bulldogs extended their lead to 27-18 going into halftime.  The third quarter is where De Smet pulled away.  The Bulldogs outscored Estelline/Hendricks 24-6 for a 51-24 lead going into the fourth quarter.

De Smet shot 32% (22-69) from the field overall, 26% (6-23) on three-point attempts, and 67% (12-18) from the free-throw line.  The Redhawks shot 33% (17-51) from the field, 19% (4-21) from three-point area, but just 4-13 from the free-throw line.

George Jensen finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals.  Tom Aughenbaugh had 15 points, five rebounds, three steals, and three assists.  Grant Wilkinson had 10 points and five rebounds.  Kadyn Fast added nine points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Trace VanRegenmorter had five points and 15 rebounds.
