Bulldog Track Will Be Experienced Team in 2023

While the De Smet Bulldogs track team may have lost strong athletes to graduation last year, this year’s track team returns 19 letter winners from a year ago.

“Last year we lost some high caliber athletes, so we have some big shoes to fill in that regard.  The boys will be limited in some relays, but will be very strong in all the field events.  On the girls side, we have some seniors that are very familiar with being leaders in our program.  We have been very young in years past, and I think that gives us an experience advantage this year.  We will have a strong, experienced team this year looking to get some individuals and relays into the state meet,” said head coach Cory Haugen.

The Bulldogs will be led by seniors Damon Wilkinson, Emma Albrecht, Julie Anderson, and Jada Burke.  The team will also be led by juniors Kadyn Fast, George Jensen, Tom Aughenbaugh, and Trace VanRegenmorter, sophomores Sam Gigov, Mirra Beck, Alyssa Asleson, and Ganon Henrich, along with freshmen Hazel Luethmers, Megan Dylla, Aubree Blue, and Audi Currier.

De Smet’s season is tentatively scheduled to start on Thursday, April 6th at the SnoBird Meet at Estelline.
