The St Mary Cardinals (15-6) had their season come to an end at the Region 3B Tournament in Salem against the Ethan Rustlers on Friday, March 3rd. The Rustlers held the St Mary offense to just 44 points in a 56-44 win.
The Cardinals had just 14 points total in the first half. Ethan, however, was not able to get too big of a lead by halftime. The Rustlers led 10-7 after the first quarter. They did have a 10-point lead, 19-9, but St Mary got the lead down to 20-14 by halftime. Ethan slowly added to their lead in the third quarter and had a 37-27 advantage going into the fourth quarter. The Rustlers maintained about a 10-point lead throughout the fourth quarter and outscored the Cardinals 19-17 in the quarter.
St Mary shot 31% (17-55) overall in the game, 24% (7-29) from three-point area, and 3-4 from the free-throw line. Ethan was 49% (21-43) shooting overall, just 1-5 on three-point attempts, and 72% (13-18) from the free-throw line.
Trevon Beckman had 14 points and nine rebounds. Maverick LeBrun finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Nic Gaspar added nine points. Trimmier Hanson ended with eight points and three assists. CJ Smith had three points and two rebounds.
