St Mary Boys Stay Strong for Win in Rutland

The St Mary Cardinal boys had to come from behind, but they stayed strong and earned a 48-45 win in Rutland against the Oldham-Ramona-Rutland Raiders on Thursday, January 15th.

The Cardinals grabbed the lead in the first quarter and were in front 11-6 at quarter’s end.  They pushed their lead to 17-10 with 3:00 to go in the second quarter, but the Raiders rallied for a 12-2 run for a 22-19 lead at halftime.  Oldham-Ramona-Rutland remained in the lead in the third quarter and led 36-32 going into the fourth quarter.  The Cardinals started the fourth quarter on a 6-0 run to go in front 38-36 with 7:00 to play.  They pushed the lead to 42-38 with 6:15 to go and remained in the lead the rest of the game for the win.

St Mary shot 34% (19-56) from the field overall, but just 2-27 on three-point attempts and 8-17 from the free-throw line.  Oldham-Ramona-Rutland finished the game shooting 34% (20-58) overall, 2-16 from three-point area, and 3-7 from the free-throw line.

Trimmier Hanson finished with 17 points, two rebounds, and two steals.  Logan Bauer had 11 points and five rebounds.  Isaac Griffin ended with six points, two rebounds, and two steals.  Colter Griffin had five points and three rebounds.
