On Friday night, St. Mary’s would go north to Colman. The 3-0 Cardinals came to the home of the 0-2 Colman-Egan Hawks on their homecoming night. The Cards would flex against Colman-Egan as Trimmier Hanson spoils Hawks homecoming, and the Cardinals win big in Colman.
1st Quarter
The first quarter would see Colman-Egan start with the ball. They would immediately have to punt it away, however, after starting their drive with Cardinal junior Josh Liebl getting into the backfield for a loss. The Cardinals marched quickly down field, but the Hawks would make a goal line stop, and the Cardinals would turn it over on downs inside the Colman-Egan five-yard line. The Hawks would have to punt the ball away again after a nowhere drive. St. Mary’s would take one play before senior Lincoln Lebrun reached the end zone from 17 yards out. The two-point was no good making the score 6-0. Colman-Egan would turn it over on downs which would bring about the 2nd quarter.
2nd Quarter
Hanson would take one of the first plays of the quarter 27 yards to set up first and goal. Hanson would mishandle the snap on the next play, however, he would end up in the end zone on the play. In addition to the touchdown, Hanson would throw to junior Logan Bauer for the two-point conversion making it 14-0. Colman-Egan’s Zach Pederson was intercepted by Lebrun on the next drive. Lebrun would also take that interception in for another touchdown. The two-point would fail to make it 20-0. Junior Jaxon Baumberger would find Hanson for 12 yard passing touchdown. Hanson would also punch in for the two-point to make it 28-0 at halftime.
3rd Quarter
In addition to the big 1st half, St. Mary’s would start with the ball in the second half. In addition to a few first down runs on the opening drive, Hanson would find the end zone from eight yards away to make it 34-0. A failed two-point kept it there. Colman-Egan would finally get on the board as Pederson found Logan Clafflin in the end zone. That was all they would do. On the next Cardinal drive, Hanson would find the end zone again, this time from 25 yards out. As a result, the St. Mary’s lead became 40-6. That lead would stay the same for the rest of the quarter.
4th Quarter
To start the 4th, St. Mary’s would turn it over on downs. Colman-Egan would immediately turn it over however. Lebrun would punch it in for a touchdown from three yards out as a result of the turnover. After a failed two-point, the lead would be 46-6. After another nothing drive for the Hawks, freshman Jacob Geraets would find classmate Isaac Ahlers for a 45 yard throw-and-catch touchdown. This would make the lead 52-6. Geraets would take a bootleg into the end zone for the two-point making it 54-6. That would be your final score as this Cardinal team spoils the Hawks homecoming game.
