Maverick LeBrun had a monster game for the St Mary Cardinals in Garretson on Tuesday, January 7th. LeBrun finished with 43 points and 17 rebounds to help St Mary to an 81-66 win over the Blue Dragons.
The Cardinals trailed 13-6 with 3:45 to go in the first quarter and then found themselves down 19-9 two minutes later. St Mary rallied to cut the lead to 21-18 by the end of the first quarter. The offense continued to play well in the second quarter, and the Cardinals ended the first half leading 41-35. St Mary did not slow down in the second half offensively. They outscored Garretson 19-14 in the third quarter for a 60-49 advantage going into the fourth quarter.
St Mary shot 55.7% (34-61) overall, 35.3% (6-17) on three-point shots, and 7-12 from the free-throw line. Garretson was 51.9% (27-52) shooting overall, 61.5% (8-13) from three-point area, and 4-10 from the free-throw line.
Trevon Beckman added 22 points, eight rebounds, and four assists to go along with LeBrun’s 43 points. Trimmier Hanson had nine points and four assists. Jake Kopsas had four points and two rebounds. Lincoln LeBrun had three points.
