The St Mary Cardinal boys basketball team finished 18-5 overall and qualified for the SoDak 16 last season. They also had an 8-1 record in the Dakota Valley Conference to finish second in the conference standings. This year the Cardinals will return three starters and all-conference players from last year and will have eight upperclassmen looking to make an impact.
Senior Maverick LeBrun (2nd team DVC), senior Trevon Beckman (2023-2024 DVC MVP and 2nd Team Class B All-State), and junior Trimmier Hanson (honorable mention DVC) return from last year’s starting lineup. Senior Jake Kopsas did not play last season but will be competing for a starting role.
“Our strength will be the depth that we may not have had from previous years,” said head coach Colby Fitzgerald.
The Cardinals open the season at home against the defending State B champions, the Howard Tigers, on Friday, December 13th.
