The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal boys basketball team hosted the Chester Flyers in a matinee afternoon game on Thursday, December 28th. After starting the game with a 6-0 deficit, the Cardinals cruised to a 66-39 victory.
The Flyers knocked down two three-pointers in the first minute and a half of the game for an early 6-0 lead. From that point it was all Dell Rapids St Mary. The Cardinals ended the first quarter with a 23-13 lead. They extended that lead to 38-23 by halftime. St Mary put the game out of reach in the third quarter by outscoring the Flyers 21-7 for a 59-30 advantage.
The Cardinals shot 49% (25-51) overall in the game, 31% (8-26) on three-point attempts, and 73% (8-11) from the free-throw line. Chester shot 33% (13-39) overall, 28% (5-18) from three-point area, and also 8-11 from the free-throw line.
Four players finished in double figures for St Mary. Nic Gaspar had 19 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Trevon Beckman had 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Maverick LeBrun added 16 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Trimmier Hanson had 1o points and three assists.
