The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals hosted the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks in volleyball action on Thursday, October 5th. The Redhawks won in straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-16, and 25-16.
Estelline/Hendricks started the first set on a 6-0 run. That momentum carried throughout the entire set. The Redhawks built a 16-4 lead and finished with a 25-12 win. The second set started closer. Estelline/Hendricks led 7-4 and then grew the lead to 15-10. The Cardinals rallied to pull within a point, 15-14, but the Redhawks pushed the lead to 19-16. They then scored the final six points for a 25-16 win.
The Redhawks started the third set with a 6-3 lead. They stayed in front by two or three points and led 9-7. From that point, Estelline/Hendricks continued to grow their lead. The Redhawks were in front by scores of 13-8, 16-9, and 22-13 before winning the set 25-16.
Livia Abel had five kills, eight digs, and two assisted blocks in the match. Brianna Lindeman finished with 11 set assists, 11 digs, an ace serve, and an assisted block. Emy Herber had three kills, four ace serves, two assisted blocks, and a dig. Jaycee Tebay added two kills, nine digs, two ace serves, two set assists, and an assisted block. Jodie Klein had 15 digs, two blocks, and a kill. Stephenie Geraets had three digs, four blocks, a kill, and set assist, and Jenna Miller finished with 10digs and an ace.
