The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals had another home match on Tuesday, October 3rd. St Mary hosted the Garretson Blue Dragons, and the Blue Dragons won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-17.
In the opening set, Garretson started with a 3-0 run. The Cardinals responded with a 4-0 run to go ahead 4-3. The score was tied 7-7 before the Blue Dragons went ahead 12-10. Garretson then finished the set on a big 13-3 run for the 25-13 victory.
The second set started with some back and forth between the two teams. The score was tied 6-6. St Mary then took a slim advantage and led 11-9. They continued to lead 12-11 before Garretson went on a 3-0 run for a 14-12 lead. The Blue Dragons stayed in front slowly building on the lead to scores of 17-14, 19-15, and 21-17. Garretson then scored the final four points for the 25-17 win.
The Cardinals got off to a quick 5-1 lead to start the third set. They were still in front by a score of 9-6, but Garretson went on a 9-1 run for a 17-10 lead. The Cardinals tried to battle back and got within five points, 20-15, but the Blue Dragons ended the match on a 5-2 scoring difference.
