The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal volleyball team traveled to White to play the Deubrook Dolphins on Thursday, September 14th. The Dolphins won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-16, and 25-18.
St Mary started the match with an early 4-1 lead in the opening set. Deubrook went on a 5-1 run for a 6-5 lead and then didn’t trail the rest of the set. Their lead grew to 19-10. The Cardinals got within six points, 21-15, but the Dolphins took the first set 25-17.
Deubrook took the early lead in the second set 4-1. St Mary went on a 5-2 run to tie the score 6-6, but again the Dolphins rallied the rest of the set. They slowly built a 20-12 lead before winning the second set 25-16. The third set started with a 4-4 tie, but Deubrook went on a 6-0 run for a 10-4 lead. St Mary got within two points, 10-8, after a 4-0 run. The Dolphins, however, went on a 6-3 run for a 16-11 lead and maintained their lead to a 25-18 victory.
Jaycee Tebay finished with nine kills and seven digs. Brianna Lindeman had 33 set assists, and Emy Herber had two blocks.
