The St Mary’s Cardinal volleyball team traveled to Baltic for a match against the Bulldogs on Monday, September 28th. The Cardinals won their 19th match of the season in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-15.
The opening set started with ties of 2-2 and 4-4. The Cardinals then went on a 6-1 run for a 10-5 lead. They would extend that lead to 15-6 and then to 21-11. Each team scored four more points each as St Mary’s took the first set 25-15.
The second set started with another 2-2 tie. St Mary’s would take a 7-5 lead and then double that advantage to four points at 13-9. The Cardinals led 17-10, but Baltic made a run to close the gap to 18-16. That was as close as St Mary’s would let Baltic get. The Cardinals finished the set on a 7-2 run for a 25-18 win.
The Bulldogs got the first advantage in the third set. They led 3-2 and then extended that lead to 9-5. Baltic continued to lead 12-9, but the Cardinals then went on a big 9-0 run to go in front 18-12. They continued their run and finished the match outscoring Baltic 7-3 for the victory.
