The St Mary’s Cardinals and Colman-Egan Hawks had to endure an hour and thirty-five minute weather delay before getting their game started on Friday, September 11th. Once the game started, the Cardinals took control right away and cruised to a 50-0 win at halftime.
Jake Heinitz started the game with a bang by returning the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown for an early 6-0 lead. Thomas LaVoy found the end zone on a 20-yard run with 9:33 to go in the opening quarter. A two-point conversion pushed the lead to 14-0. Brady Jewett connected with Heinitz on a 45-yard touchdown pass with 6:30 remaining to extend the lead. Kade Lutt scored a defensive touchdown by recovering a fumble and returning it 17 yards for a touchdown with 4:48 left in the quarter. Another two-point conversion made the score 28-0. Jewett had another touchdown pass in the first quarter, this time to Logan Bauer for three yards with 1:01 remaining. The Cardinals led 36-0 after the two-point conversion.
St Mary’s had two more scores in the second quarter. Pano Skliris scored both of them on rushing touchdowns. The first one was with 10:23 to go in the half on a 12-yard run. The second touchdown was a 25-yard run with 5:48 left in the half. The Cardinals converted one two-point conversion to make the score 50-0. The half ended with St Mary’s leading 50-0 which then ended the game.
The Cardinals had 205 yards of total offense, 48 passing yards and 157 rushing yards. Colman-Egan had 81 yards of offense, four passing yards and 77 rushing yards. Jewett was 2-5 passing for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Heinitz had a touchdown catch for 45 yards, and Bauer had a touchdown catch for three yards. Jewett had one carry for 40 yards. Skliris had three carries for 40 yards and two touchdowns. LaVoy ended with two carries for 23 yards and two touchdowns.
Colter Griffin finished with 5.5 tackles. Isaac Griffin had four tackles. Josh Liebl ended with three tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. Jacob Geraets, Alex Lindeman, Gus Herber, and Bauer all had three tackles each. Liam Barr had 2.5 tackles, and Lutt finished with a tackle and fumble recovery.
