The St Mary’s Cardinal volleyball team took first place at the Estelline Tournament winning all three matches on Saturday, August 29th. Two of the teams the defeated had not lost yet this season.
The Cardinals avenged a season-opening loss to the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks with a straight set win by scores of 25-19 and 25-17 to give the Redhawks their first loss of the season. St Mary’s followed that with a three-set win over the Deubrook Dolphins by scores of 25-22, 27-29, and 27-25. That was also the first loss of the season for the Dolphins. The third win came against Great Plains Lutheran by scores of 25-15 and 25-14.
With the three wins in the tournament, the Cardinals improved their record to 4-1 on the season.
