The St Mary’s Cardinal boys hosted the Centerville Tornadoes on Tuesday, February 17th. The Tornadoes made a run in the second half to get a 51-39 win over the Cardinals.
Centerville did hold the lead for most of the game which started in the first quarter. The Tornadoes led 17-10 by the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals closed the gap a little in the second quarter and trailed 25-20 going into halftime. St Mary’s scored the first five points of the third quarter and tied the game 25-25 with 4:00 to play. The Tornadoes would end the quarter on a 9-4 run to go back in front by five, 34-29, going into the fourth quarter. Centerville would then put 17 points on the board in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.
St Mary’s shot 33% (13-40) in the game overall, 47% (9-19) on three-point attempts, and 4-6 from the free-throw line. Centerville was 38% (20-53) shooting on the night, 26% (7-27) from three-point area, but just 4-14 from the free-throw line.
Trimmier Hanson had nine points and five rebounds. Peyton Lamb ended with nine points, three rebounds, and two assists. Lincoln LeBrun also had nine points and three rebounds. Paxton Beckman added six points. Joseph Trumbauer had four points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
