Middle Quarters Unkind for St Mary Boys in Castlewood

The St Mary Cardinal boys had a rough middle portion of the game and fell to the Castlewood Warriors 56-28 in Castlewood on Tuesday, January 20th.

The Warriors went 0-8 on three-point attempts in the first quarter, and the Cardinals took advantage of the slow start.  St Mary built a 13-2 lead with 2:00 to go in the opening quarter and led 13-6 at the quarter break.  Then the fortunes switched for both teams.

Castlewood was able to find some momentum offensively and at the same time, the Cardinals hit some struggles.  The Warriors outscored St Mary 16-1 in the second quarter for a 22-14 lead at halftime.  The offense for St Mary just couldn’t get shots to fall in the third quarter either as Castlewood ran the score to 42-16 by the end of it.

St Mary shot just 29% (11-38) overall in the game, 21% (4-19) on three-point shots, and 2-7 from the free-throw line.  The Warriors ended the game shooting 49% (24-49) overall, 22% (5-23) from three-point area, and 3-8 from the free-throw line.

Trimmier Hanson had seven points and three rebounds.  Joseph Trumbauer added four points and three rebounds.  Paxton Beckman, Lincoln LeBrun, and Logan Bauer all had three points each.  Isaac Griffin, Peyton Lamb, Kade Lutt, and Jake Heinitz finished with two points each.
