Tuesday found the Cardinal boys on the road in Mitchell. The Cards would go up against the Mitchell Christian Golden Eagles, winning 67-36. Senior Peyton Lamb finishes with a double-double as St Mary’s takes down Mitchell Christian.
First Half
A layup from Trimmier Hanson would get the scoring started. Three point buckets from Joe Trumbauer and Paxton Beckman, along with a bucket from Logan Bauer, brought a 13-7 lead. Josh Liebl would connect on a three from a pass from Hanson making it 16-7 and ending the first quarter.
A pair of free throws from Lamb started the second quarter. Buckets from Colter Griffin and Hanson stretched the lead to 22-7. Hanson and Trumbauer were able to stretch the lead to 29-13 before halftime before finishing the half up 29-15.
Second Half
Trumbauer got the third quarter started off with two straight three pointers. Lamb would score on an assist from Lincoln Lebrun. Lamb would score the next three Cardinal buckets, making it 45-21. Next up it was Beckman connecting from deep next for the Cardinals. Isaac Griffin and Gavin Pica would also both throw points on the board, making it 52-27 after three quarters.
In the third, It was Pica getting the scoring started off for the Cards. Lamb connected in the paint again, making it 57-27. I Griffin would send home a three off of an assist from C Griffin. St Mary’s would end up winning it 67-36 after
Final
For the Cards, Lamb led with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. Trumbauer finished with 12 points, 3 rebounds, an assist, as well as 2 steals. Additionally, Hanson had 8 points, 5 assists, alongside 4 steals. Also scoring for the Cards, Beckman and Pica both had 6, I Griffin had 5 with C Griffin and Bauer had 2.
