The St Mary Cardinals will return strong boys and girls teams for the 2025 season. The Cardinals return four total golfers that qualified for the state tournament for St Mary, plus they welcome two transfer students with state-tournament experience.
Blaine Bacon returns for his fourth season as head coach for St Mary. Last season Bacon was named the Dakota Valley Conference boys coach of the year.
The girls team finished ninth overall at the state tournament last year. Allie Hansen tied for 24th to medal at state. Carley Roiger (36th) and Brianna Weiland (T50th) both competed at state last year. These three return for the girls team this year. They will be joined by transfer students Izzy McNaughton, who placed 12th individually at last year’s State A Tournament, and Sophie McNaughton (placed 56th at State A). Rachel Heinemann, Rebecca Heinemann, and Maddison Bacon will also be competing for the Cardinals this year.
Trevon Beckman returns for the Cardinals boys team after finishing tied for 18th at the State B Tournament a year ago. T. Beckman will be joined by Trimmier Hanson, Paxton Beckman, Jonah McNaughton, Lukas Gaul, Callen Roemen, Bronc Geraets, and Teagan Weinacht on this year’s team.
“I expect the Cardinals (girls) to be one of the best teams in the area, along with Chester and Estelline/Hendricks. Miller and Clark/Willow Lake will be some of the top contenders for the Class B title on the girls side,” said coach Bacon. “Trevon is one of the top players in the state this season, and I expect him to compete for individual titles in our conference, region, and state meets. I also expect Trimmier, Paxton, and Jonah to have a solid chance to quality for the state tournament.
