St Mary Boys Hold off Parkston at Hanson Classic

The St Mary Cardinal boys were able to hold off the Parkston Trojans for a 68-59 win at the Hanson Classic in Mitchell on Saturday, January 25th.

The Cardinals built a 15-9 lead by the end of the first quarter.  Parkston rallied in the second quarter and took a two-point lead with 4:50 to play in the half, but the Cardinals ended the second quarter with a 31-27 lead.  The Cardinals extended their lead in the third quarter, but only by two points.  St Mary led 47-41 going into the fourth quarter.  The Cardinals had a game-high 13 point lead with 5:24 to go in the game.  They were able to maintain the lead the rest of the game for the win.

St Mary shot 58% (25-43) overall, 29% (5-17) on three-point attempts, and 68% (13-19) from the free-throw line.  Parkston finished the game shooting 43% (22-51) overall, 25% (5-20) from three-point area, and 83% (10-12) from the free-throw line.

Trevon Beckman finished with 29 points and four rebounds.  Maverick LeBrun added 15 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.  Jake Kopssas had 11 points and four rebounds.  Jaxon Baumberger ended with six points and four rebounds.  Trimmier Hanson had five points and three assists.
