Cardinal Boys Score Big Win over Dawson-Boyd

The St Mary Cardinal boys basketball team earned a big win over the Dawson-Boyd BlackJacks to end the first weekend of the DVC Border Battle in Colman on Saturday, January 18th.  The Cardinals won a back-and-forth game 78-72.

The BlackJacks had the only double-digit lead in the game, and that was after starting the game on a 10-0 run.  The Cardinals rebounded from that run and ended the quarter on an 18-7 scoring difference for an 18-17 lead.  St Mary extended their lead to 34-31 at halftime.  The second half was much like the first, a close battle between the two.  Dawson-Boyd ended the third quarter with a 54-52 advantage.  The BlackJacks held a 62-59 lead with just under 4:00 to play in the game.  St Mary went on a 10-2 run for a 69-64 lead with 2:00 to play.  They would maintain the lead the rest of the game.

Trevon Beckman finished with 40 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.  Maverick LeBrun added 24 points and eight rebounds.  Trimmier Hanson had nine points and five assists.
