Experience Returns for St Mary Cross Country

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal cross country teams return all of their runners from last year.  Those runners will have some great experience as seven of them ran in the state meet a year ago.  The girls team sent all of their runners and placed ninth as a team, and Liz Vogel returns after placing 16th individually.

Along with Vogel, Maddie Reiff (senior) will help lead the girls team.  Camden Tebay and Matt Heinemann along with seniors Levi Gaul and Hayden Bowers will help lead the boys team.

“I’m excited to return everyone from last year as our boys showed continued improvement throughout the season, and I think they have a shot at making state as a team. The girls have shown, too, that they can compete well together, and I think that could amount to placing as a team at state this year (getting top six as a team). We compete in one of the most difficult regions in the state which presents a steep challenge, but it also helps us step up our game to do things like send a good chunk of our team to state. I’m looking forward to what our runners can do this year,” said head coach Mitchell Roemen.
