Excerpt from the book: “In 1879, land was purchased for $20 on the corner of State Avenue and Third Street to build a new Methodist church. The railroad later cut the lots in two, compelling the Methodist congregation to look for new land. This photograph of the church on Fifth Street was taken on March 12, 1950, before the building was razed to make way for a new church. (Courtesy Dell Rapids United Methodist Church.)”
