The Beresford Watchdog volleyball team hosted the Sioux Valley Cossacks in their second straight home match on Thursday, September 5th. The Cossacks won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-13.
The opening set started on a 3-3 tie. Sioux Valley went on a 3-0 run for a 6-0 lead, but Beresford responded to tie the score 6-6. The teams traded points to an 11-11 tie. Sioux Valley then went on a 5-1 run for a 16-12 lead. They extended the lead to 21-15 before Beresford pulled within three points, 23-20. The Cossacks took the first set 25-21.
The Watchdogs jumped out to a 4-1 lead to start the second set. The Cossacks tied the score 5-5, and the score remained tied 9-9. Beresford went ahead 13-10, but Sioux Valley went on a big run. The Cossacks went ahead 19-14 and continued to a 25-17 win.
Beresford had the lead early in the third set, 4-2. The score was tied 8-8 before Sioux Valley started to pull away. The Cossacks when ahead 13-10 and then outscored the Watchdogs 9-1 for a 22-11 advantage before winning 25-13.
