Beresford Softball Wins Another Big Offensive Game

For the second game in a row, the Beresford Watchdogs won a big offensive game on Monday, April 15th.  The Watchdogs and Lennox Orioles combined for 35 runs and 38 hits in a game Beresford won 19-14.

Lennox scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the first.  Beresford responded with 11 straight runs, seven in the first inning and four more in the second.  Both team scored three runs each in the third inning, and Beresford led 14-5 after three innings.

The Watchdogs scored three times in the bottom of the fourth for a 17-5 lead.  The Orioles avoided the 10-run rule by scoring four times in the top of the fifth.  Beresford only got one run in their fifth inning for an 18-9 score.  Lennox put two more runs on the board in the top of the sixth, while Beresford scored their final run in the bottom of the sixth.  The Orioles made things a little interesting with three runs in the top of the seventh, but the Watchdogs held for the win.

Ivy Keiser had four hits, including a home run and double, with three RBIs.  Kennedy Merrigan had four hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Keely Merrigan had three hits and two RBIs.  Harley Koth had two hits, one a home run, and five RBIs.  Halle Livingston also had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.  Reese Olson and Kaylee Ivarson each had a double and an RBI.  Tavyn Valder finished with two hits, and Lily Seivert had an RBI.  Keely Merrigan pitched 4 2/3 innings allowing nine runs, seven earned, on 12 hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Rylie Laurvick threw 2 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits and a walk with one strikeout.
