Late Rally Lifts Beresford Softball to Win over Wagner

The Beresford Watchdogs scored eight runs late in the game to earn an 9-4 come-from-behind win over the Wagner Red Raiders on Monday, April 8th.

Wagner scored two quick runs in the top of the first inning.  K. Merrigan pulled the Watchdogs within a run with an RBI triple in the bottom of the first.  The Red Raiders pushed the lead to 3-1 with a run in the top of the second.  The score remained 3-1 until the bottom of the fourth.  Halle Livingston started the Beresford fourth with a solo home run.  Lily Seivert and K. Merrigan scored on an error to give Beresford a 4-3 lead.

The Red Raiders tied the game 4-4 with a two-out single in the top of the fifth inning.  Beresford then had a big bottom of the fifth.  Livingston had an RBI single, Seivert had an RBI ground out, Kaylee Ivarsen added an RBI single, and Kate Degen and K. Merrigan both scored on a passed ball to give the Watchdogs a 9-4 lead.

Livingston had two hits, one a home run, and two RBIs.  Ivarsen had a single and an RBI.  K. Merrigan had two hits, one a triple.  K. Merrigan added two singles.  Harley Koth finished with a double.  Ivy Keiser had a single, and Seivert had an RBI.  Rylie Laurvick pitched seven innings and allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits and five walks with 14 strikeout.
