Dakota Valley Uses Big Rally Late in Win over Beresford

The Beresford Watchdogs trailed by just a run, 4-3, after three innings of play, but Dakota Valley scored 16 straight runs for a 20-3 win on Friday, April 5th.

The Panthers scored four times in the top of the first for an early 4-0 lead.  The Watchdogs got two runs back in the bottom of the inning.  Reese Olson scored on an error, and Tavyn Valder stole home to make it 4-2.  Kaylee Ivarsen had an RBI single in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 4-3.  Neither team scored in the third inning, but Dakota Valley scored eight times in the fourth and eight more runs in the top of the fifth for the win.

Ivarsen finished with a single and an RBI.  Olson, Valder, Halle Livingstson, and Harley Koth all had one single each.  Rylie Laurvick pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing eight runs, six earned, on seven hits and a walk with one strikeout.  Kennedy Merrigan pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed eight earned runs on five hits and four walks with a strikeout.  Kate Degan pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing four earned runs on two hits and two walks.
