BAH 14U Black Sox Stay Alive in Region 7A

The Beresford/Alcester-Hudson 14U Black Sox kept their post season alive in the Region 7A tournament on Monday, July 10th in Vermillion. The Black Sox lost their opening round game but bounced back with a win in an elimination game later in the day.

In an opening round game of the Region 7A Tournament, Elk Point-Jefferson scored the first five runs of the game.  They got two in the top of the first, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth.  The Black Sox scored their two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Ian Henderson had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Ashton Oberle had two hits, including a double.  Kasen Voss finished with a hit and an RBI.  Oberle pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, only two earned, on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts.  Voss pitched 1 2/3 innings and walked one and struck out three.

Beresford/Alcester-Hudson 12, Dakota Valley 13s 7

The Black Sox used two four run innings to help them to a 12-7 win over Dakota Valley 13s in an elimination game.  Both teams scored a run in the first inning.  Dakota Valley took a 3-1 lead after a run in the second and a run in the third.  The Black Sox took the lead with a four-run third and a three-run fourth.  Dakota Valley cut the lead to 8-4 with a run in the sixth.  BAH put the game out of reach with their second four-run inning in the sixth.  Dakota Valley scored three in the seventh.

Voss had two hits and three RBIs.  Oberle had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Evan Haak added a double and an RBI.  Henderson had a single and an RBI.  Jackson Meyer also had a single.  Haak pitched three innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts.  Lucas Anderson pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed an earned run on a hit with a strikeout.  Voss threw 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Payden Hoffman pitched one inning and struck out one.
