Watchdog Football Jumps to 11A in 2022

After making a run in the 11B playoffs in 2021, the Beresford Watchdogs make the jump to Class 11A in 2022, which will bring a new look schedule to the team.  The Watchdogs finished with an overall record of 7-4 last year with playoff wins over Mt Vernon/Plankinton and Aberdeen Roncalli.  Beresford fell to Bridgewater-Emery-Ethan in the semifinals.

This year’s team will be led by quite a few seniors.  Tate VanOtterloo, Peyton Fridrich, Michael Schegrud, Jake Goblirsch, Jaxsen Tadlock, Zach Boden, Landon Schurch, Alex Jensen, and Aaron Larson are all seniors with two or three years of starting experience.

“We return a very large part of last year’s team, and that is exciting,” said head coach Scott Ebert.  “This is the fastest team we’ve had, and one of the most athletic teams by the numbers from our testing.”

This year’s team will be tested with a brand new schedule with the jump to 11A.  Flandreau is the only team that Beresford will play this year that they also played last year.  The Watchdogs will also play Canton, Winner, Lennox, Dell Rapids, Sioux Falls Christian, Dakota Valley, and Lakota Tech.

“Each and every week poses a challenge.  We must take one game, one week at a time.  We must prepare as hard as we can each week and give it our best effort,” added Ebert.

The 2022 season starts at home against Milbank on Friday, August 26th.
