Viborg-Hurley Makes Three Free Throws in Final Seconds to Steal Win from Baltic Boys

The Viborg-Hurley Cougars took advantage of a foul on a three-point shot in the closing seconds.  All three free throws were made to give the Cougars a 52-51 win over the Baltic Bulldogs on Thursday, January 22nd.

The Bulldogs fought from behind for most of the game.  The Cougars exploded fro a 19-5 lead by the end of the first quarter.  Baltic was able to settle down the remainder of the game.  They cut the lead down to 25-16 by halftime.  The Bulldogs kept chipping away in the third quarter and pulled within three points, 35-32, going into the fourth quarter.  They would take a 51-49 lead late, but a foul with :01.6 left on the clock on a three-point shot put the Cougars on the free-throw line.  The Bulldogs did not have enough time after the three made free throws.

Baltic shot 50% (19-38) from the field overall, 39% (9-23) on three-point shots, and 4-8 from the free-throw line.  Viborg-Hurley shot 51% (20-39) overall, 41% (7-17) from three-point area, and 5-11 from the free-throw line.

Kellen Artz had 22 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots.  Dylan Runestad added 15 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals.  Ben Erickson had seven points, two rebounds, and two steals.
