Bulldog Girls Fall in Overtime on Last Second Shot

A made last second shot in overtime by Viborg-Hurley gave the Cougars a 59-58 win over the Baltic Bulldogs in Baltic on Thursday, January 29th.

The Cougars held an 11-6 lead in the opening quarter, but the Bulldogs went on an 8-0 run to take a 14-11 lead.  Viborg-Hurley battled back to tie the game 16-16 by the end of the quarter.  The Cougars would hold a 27-21 lead in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs trimmed the lead down to one, 32-31, by halftime.

Baltic would go in front in the third quarter and held a 47-43 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The game went back and fourth in the fourth quarter, and the two teams were tied 54-54 going into overtime.  The Bulldogs would get a 58-57 lead in the closing seconds, but the last-second layup gave the Cougars the win.

Baltic shot 35% (18-52) from the field overall, 28% (5-18) from three-point area, and 68% (17-25) from the free-throw line.  Viborg-Hurley shot 34% (19-56) overall in the game, 42% (8-19) on three-point shots, and 87% (13-15) from the free-throw line.

Harper Kortemeyer ended with 19 point, three rebounds, and three assists.  Caitlyn Pickett had 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Kaiya Lenderts had 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Kate Bouman added nine points, nine rebounds, and three steals.
