First Half Runs Help Castlewood to Win over Baltic Girls

The Baltic Bulldog girls basketball team traveled to Colman for the Entringer Classic on Saturday, December 20th.  The Bulldogs faced the Castlewood Warriors.  The Warriors used two first-half runs to help them to a 54-36 victory.

Baltic got out to a quick 7-3 lead in the opening quarter.  Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Castlewood ended the first quarter on a 15-2 run for an 18-9 lead going into the second quarter.  The Bulldogs scored the first four points of the second quarter to cut the lead to 18-13, but the Warriors ended the half with a 13-2 run for a 31-15 halftime lead.  The two teams were mostly even in the second half.  The Warriors outscored Baltic in the final two quarters but by just two points, 23-21.

The Bulldogs shot 29.3% (12-41) overall, 21.4% (3-14) on three-point shots, and 69.2% (9-13) from the free-throw line.  Castlewood was 29.6% (21-71) shooting overall, 22.7% (5-22) from three-point area, and 50.0% (7-14) from the free-throw line.

Harper Kortemeyer had 14 points and four rebounds.  Caitlyn Pickett had seven points and seven rebounds.  Meredith Larson also had seven points with six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Ellie Pickett ended with five points and five rebounds.
