The Sioux Valley Cossacks put together an incredible second quarter led them to an 81-21 victory over the Baltic Bulldog girls basketball team in Baltic on Thursday, December 18th.
The Bulldogs held a 4-3 lead at the halfway point of the first quarter. Sioux Valley would end the quarter with a 10-5 run for a 13-9 advantage going into the second quarter. That’s when the Cossacks would catch fire. Sioux Valley only missed two shots in the entire quarter that included them going 8-for-8 on three-point attempts and saw them score 38 points on their way to a 51-16 halftime lead.
The Cossacks cooled down a little bit in the third quarter, but only slightly. They still scored 24 points in the third quarter and held Baltic to just five second half points.
Baltic shot 19.5% (8-41) from the field overall, 28.6% (4-14) on three-point attempts, and 1-9 from the free-throw line. Sioux Valley finished the game shooting 53.4% (30-56) from the field, 48.3% (14-29) from three-point area, and a perfect 7-7 from the free-throw line.
Meredith Larson finished the game with 12 points and eight rebounds. Elise Wilde had five points. Kate Bouman added three points, four rebounds, and two assists. Kaiya Lenderts had five rebounds, and Caitlyn Pickett had four rebounds.
