Baltic Baseball Wins First Game of Season

The Baltic high school baseball team won their first game of the season in Howard on Wednesday, April 8th.  Baltic used a six-run inning to lead them to a 10-5 victory.

Elias Oakley scored on a passed ball, and Jackson Goehring had an RBI single in the top of the first inning to give Baltic an early 2-0 lead.  Howard tied the game, 2-2, with a couple of runs in the bottom of the first.  After a scoreless second inning, Baltic scored six times in the top of the third.  Laken Kortemeyer had an RBI walk, Brody Hansen had a three-run double, E. Oakley added an RBI single, and then he scored on a steal of home for an 8-2 lead.  Howard got one run back in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 8-3.

Isaac Oakley had an RBI ground out in the top of the sixth.  Goehring also had an RBI ground out to extend the lead for Baltic to 10-3.  Howard would get a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and one more in the bottom of the seventh.

E. Oakley finished with three hits and an RBI.  Hansen had a double with three RBIs.  Goehring added a single and two RBIs.  I. Oakley and Kortemeyer each had an RBI.  Kortemeyer pitched three innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.  Hansen tossed four innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
