Late Rally by Lennox Leads to Win over Baltic

The Baltic high school baseball team traveled to Lennox on Monday, April 6th.  Lennox rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to help them to a 13-10 come-from-behind win.

Lennox scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning.  Baltic bounced back with a six-run top of the second.  Elias Oakley and Cale Roach each drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game 2-2.  Jackson Goehring followed with a two-run single.  Isaac Oakley drove home another run on a fielder’s choice ground ball.  Goehring would score later in the inning to give Baltic a 6-2 lead.  They added three more runs in the top of the third on an RBI singles by E. Oakley and Goehring.  E. Oakley also stole home in the inning for a 9-2 lead.

Lennox would add two runs in the bottom of the third and another two runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 9-6.  After a scoreless fifth inning, Lennox held Baltic scoreless in the top of the sixth.  They then had their seven-run bottom of the sixth to go back in front 13-9.  I. Oakley drew a two-out bases loaded walk in the top of the seventh.

Goehring finished with three hits and three RBIs.  E. Oakley added a single with two RBIs.  Zach Helgeson and Bradyn Hanson each had a hit.  I. Oakley had two RBIs, and Roach had one RBI.  I. Oakley pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, one earned, on a hit and six walks with two strikeouts.  E. Oakley pitched one inning and allowed five runs, four earned, on a hit and four walks with three strikeouts.  Laken Kortemeyer tossed 1/3 of an inning and gave up two unearned runs on a hit.  Aaron Nordbye allowed two earned runs.
