Rally Falls Short for Baltic Baseball Against McCook Central

The Baltic high school baseball team traveled to Salem to play McCook Central on Tuesday, March 31st.  Baltic put a rally together in the top of the seventh inning, but the rally fell short as McCook Central took the win 10-7.

After a scoreless first inning, McCook Central scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning for a 2-0 lead.  Jackson Goehring had a two-run double and then later scored on a steal of home in the top of the third to put Baltic ahead 3-2.  McCook Central scored two more times in the bottom of the third to retake the lead 4-3.

The fourth inning was scoreless, but McCook Central had a five-run bottom of the fifth inning.  They would add another run in the bottom of the sixth to lead 10-3 going into the top of the seventh inning.  Laken Kortemeyer, Cale Roach, and Elias Oakley all had RBI singles in the inning.  Isaac Oakley added an RBI double to make the score 10-7, but McCook Central was able to stop the really to secure the win.

E. Oakley had two singles and an RBI.  Bradyn Hanson had two hits, including a double.  Goehring had a double with two RBIs.  I. Oakley ended with a double and an RBI.  Roach and Kortemeyer each had a single and RBI.  Hanson also had a hit.

E. Oakley pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs, five earned, on six hits and six walks with 10 strikeouts.  Kortemeyer pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
