Bulldog Boys Fall Short in Garretson

The Baltic Bulldog boys were held off by the Garretson Blue Dragons in Garretson on Tuesday, February 3rd.  The Blue Dragons would get the win 62-58 on their home floor.

Both teams got off to a bit of a slow start in the game combining for just 14 points.  Garretson led 9-5 at the quarter break.  Baltic scored the first five points of the second quarter to take a 10-9 lead with 6:45 to play in the first half.  The Blue Dragons, however, would outscore the Bulldogs 21-13 the rest of the quarter for a 30-23 halftime lead.

The Blue Dragons continued their run into the third quarter.  Garretson extended their lead to 44-30, the largest of the game, with 3:30 to play in the quarter.  The Bulldogs were able to trim the lead down to 48-39 going into the fourth quarter.  Garretson pushed the lead back to 13 points, 57-44, with 4:00 to play.  The Bulldogs pulled within three points, 61-58, with :06 to go, but the Blue Dragons made one of two free throws with :05 to go to secure the win.

Baltic shot 45% (22-49) overall in the game, 31% (4-13) on three-point shots, and 67% (10-15) from the free-throw line.  Garretson would shoot 48% (23-48) overall, 43% (9-21) on three-point attempts, and 64% (7-11) from the free-throw line.

Kellen Artz led the team with 24 points and eight rebounds.  Ben Erickson added 19 points, three rebounds, and three assists.  Dylan Runestad ended with six points.  Trevor Cuperus had four points and four rebounds.
