The Vermillion Tanagers shot over 50% on their three-point attempts which helped them to a 71-42 win over the Baltic Bulldogs in Baltic on Thursday, January 8th.
The Tanagers only made one three-point shot in the first quarter, but they were still able to build a 10-point lead of 21-11 by the end of the quarter. Vermillion got hot in the second quarter hitting six of eight three-point attempts. The Tanagers led 43-29 at halftime. The Bulldogs were held to just eight points in the third quarter as Vermillion built a 62-37 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Baltic shot 42% (20-48) from the field overall, but they were just 1-14 on three-point attempts and 1-3 from the free-throw line. Vermillion finished the game shooting 45% (25-55) overall, 52% (11-21) from three-point area, and 10-12 from the free-throw line.
Trevor Cuperus had 17 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Dylan Runestad finished with 11 points and three rebounds. Kellen Artz added 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. Cooper Garry ended with four points.
