Baltic Girls Get Win over Belle Fourche in Madison

The Baltic Bulldog girls overcame a slow start to get a 50-36 win over the Belle Fourche Broncs at the Hometown Basketball Classic in Madison on Saturday, January 3rd.

The Broncs held an early 6-4 lead four minutes into the game.  Belle Fourche scored the only other four points of the quarter for a 10-4 advantage.  The Bulldogs started the second quarter with a 6-0 run to tie the game 10-10.  They would outscore the Broncs 10-4 the rest of the quarter for a 20-14 halftime lead.

Baltic slowly started to pull away from Belle Fourche throughout the third quarter.  They went on a 7-4 run to take a 27-18 lead with 2:45 remaining in the third quarter.  The lead grew to 10 points, 32-22, for the Bulldogs going into the fourth quarter.  They were able to extend their lead to 15 points, 41-26, with 3:30 to go and held for the win.

Baltic shot 42% (18-43) from the field overall, 33% (7-21) from three-point area, and 37% (7-19) from the free-throw line.  Belle Fourche finished the game shooting 26% (13-51) overall, 15% (2-13) on three-point shots, and 50% (8-16) from the free-throw line.

Meredith Larson had 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists.  Caitlyn Pickett ended with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and four steals.  Kaiya Lenderts added nine points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.  Kate Bouman had six points, four rebounds, and three assists.
