The Baltic Bulldog football team traveled to Salem for a meeting with the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars on Friday, October 10th. The Fighting Cougars took the win 39-14.
With 9:42 to go in the opening quarter, the Fighting Cougars had a three-yard touchdown run for an early 6-0 lead. The score remained 6-0 the rest of the first quarter. McCook Central/Montrose scored again early in the second quarter. They found the end zone on a 50-yard touchdown pass with 10:39 to go. A made extra point made the score 13-0. The Fighting Cougars added one more score with 1:43 left in the half. They scored on a one-yard run. McCook Central/Montrose led 19-0 going into halftime.
The Fighting Cougars would get two more scores in the third quarter. They had a 37-yard touchdown run with 5:04 on the clock. They would then have an 18-yard touchdown run with 1:51 remaining in the quarter. McCook Central/Montrose made one two-point conversion and led 33-0 going into the fourth quarter.
With 10:39 to go in the game, McCook Central/Montrose had a six-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 39-0. The Bulldogs were able to get on the board with 8:15 to play. Jackson Goehring had a six-yard touchdown run for a 39-6 score. Trevor Cuperus would recover a fumble in the end zone with 6:36 remaining. Goehring scored the two-point conversion for a 39-14 score.
The Bulldogs will end the regular season on Friday, October 17th at home against the Groton Tigers.
