The Baltic Bulldog volleyball team won their fourth straight match after a win against the St Mary Cardinals on Monday, September 29th. The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, and 25-14.
The first set started with a 3-3 tie. The Bulldogs went on a 5-1 run to take an 8-4 lead. The Cardinals cut the lead in half, 9-7, but Baltic responded with a 5-2 run to go up 14-9. They continued to lead by five, 18-13, before pushing the lead to 22-15. The Bulldogs took the win 25-18.
Baltic started the second set with a 3-1 lead. They extended the lead to five at 8-3 and 11-6. The Cardinals battled to within a point, cutting the lead to 16-15. St Mary stayed within a couple of points with Baltic leading 23-21. The Bulldogs finished the set scoring the final two points to win 25-21.
The third set started with a 3-2 lead by the Bulldogs. They continued to hold a lead at 7-5 and 9-7. St Mary tied the score 12-12. The score was tied 15-15 and 18-18. The Cardinals went ahead 20-18. They still led 23-21, but the Bulldogs tied things at 23-23. The two teams traded points to a 24-24 tie. The Cardinals scored the final two points for a 26-24 win to force a fourth set.
The Bulldogs opened the fourth set with a 3-0 lead. The Cardinals responded with a 5-2 run to tie the score 5-5. Baltic went back in front 7-6 and slowly built an eight point lead, 16-8. The Cardinals couldn’t quite mount a comeback as the Bulldogs kept them from getting any closer than five points, 19-14. Baltic finished the set on a 6-0 run for the 25-14 win.
